We have a great student body at GSES, but sometimes even great students can slip up and use words that cause alarm in other students. We ask that you partner with us and please take a moment to speak with your kiddos and remind them about the importance of choosing their words carefully at school. Even when meant as a joke or in play, threatening language can cause alarm and lead to serious consequences. Obviously that is not something we want for our kiddos.
We are sharing this reminder because we want all students to feel safe, supported, and comfortable at school. By working together, we can help children develop positive communication skills that strengthen our school community and foster respect among peers. We continually teach our students our PAWS expectations (Pride Attitude Work Safety), which we hope affects their mindset at home as well as at school. Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
Thank you for your continued support of our school and our kids!

We hope you will make plans to join us for our Back-to-School Night next Tuesday, August 26th. This is an important night for parents to meet with your child's teacher to learn essential information that will help set your child up for success this year. Teachers will share information about class expectations, homework policies, grading, curriculum, testing, family engagement opportunities available this year, clubs, and more. Each teacher will host a session from 6:00 to 6:30 P.M. and repeat the same session from 6:45 to 7:15 P.M. Families may drop in to attend either session. Our Media Specialist, Mrs. Gassman, will also offer a session during both time slots to help families learn more about our school technology tools like ParentSquare and Infinite Campus. Specials teachers will also be available to meet families and share information about their programs. We hope EVERY Panther family will be able to join us! |

Kindergarten students began their study of colors last week. Each day featured a different color and activities that connected to literature, art, and writing. Our Gum Springs community joined in by wearing the color of the day, creating a school-wide spirit of support. Last week, students focused on red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. But we are not done yet! Next week our Kindergarteners will focus on more colors. Check out the schedule below and support our Kindergarten students!

Last week, our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders visited the library for the first time to review library expectations and check out books. Students played an online game in teams to review how we behave in the library, where to find books in the library, and checkout procedures. All 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students have now checked out 2 books from the library! Students should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each day in order to finish books in a timely manner. Please check with your child on which day they visit the library.
Don't worry Kindergarten & 1st graders! Your turn to visit the library is next week. Mrs. Gassman and Mrs. Kollman are excited to see you!
