The Jackson County School System will be sending a system-record 22 students to the State Technology Competition this March, following the regional competition in Barrow County last weekend.

The Jackson County School System is pleased to announce the following individuals as the winners of the District Technology Competition. All winners will now advance to the regional competition held in Winder in January.

Gum Springs Elementary School and Maysville Elementary School have been named PBIS Distinguished Schools by the Georgia Department of Education.

The Jackson County Board of Education has been named an Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Boards Association, the organization announced Monday. The honor marks the second-consecutive year the Jackson County BOE has been named an Exemplary Board.

The Jackson County School System saw an increase in scores from the End of Grade testing conducted at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. The State of Georgia released the scores Friday.
Students take Georgia Milestones End of Grade tests in grades three through eight and End of Course tests in four high school courses.

Dr. Jennifer Hartwell was approved as the new assistant principal at Gum Springs Elementary School during a Thursday night Board of Education work session.
Dr. Hartwell will join the administrative team under the direction of new principal Joshua Todd, who was approved in May.

School and district-leaders from within the Jackson County School System visited local industry leaders from Jackson County during a leadership retreat on Friday, June 9.
The retreat started Friday morning with 74 leaders visiting six industrial leaders. The goal of the retreat was for leaders to gain a better understanding of the industry located in Jackson County and the opportunities that are available after graduation for the over 10,000 students within the Jackson County School System.

The Jackson County School System Board of Education approved Joshua Todd as the new principal of Gum Springs Elementary School on Thursday night.
Todd is a current assistant principal at Jackson County High School.

JEFFERSON — Dr. Jennifer Hartwell was approved as the new assistant principal at Gum Springs Elementary School during a Thursday night Board of Education work session.
Dr. Hartwell will join the administrative team under the direction of new principal Joshua Todd, who was approved in May.

JEFFERSON — The Jackson County School System Board of Education approved Joshua Todd as the new principal of Gum Springs Elementary School on Thursday night.
Todd is a current assistant principal at Jackson County High School.
