I began my teaching career in the Griffin-Spalding County School system in Griffin, GA in 2001. There, I taught English at Spalding High School from 2001-2012. During that time, I was recognized as STAR teacher twice.
In 2012, I joined the Georgia Department of Education where I worked in K-12 Literacy and Reading. In 2018, I returned to Spalding High School where I served as assistant principal until 2021. My family and I moved to Jackson County in the Summer of 2021 where I joined the administrative team at the Empower College and Career Center. During the summer of 2022, I transitioned to Jackson County High School, and to principal at Gum Springs Elementary in June of 2023.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Valdosta State University in 2001, my Masters of Secondary Education in 2007 from the University of West Georgia, and my Specialist in Educational Leadership in 2013 from Columbus State University.
I am happily married and have two children who attend Jackson County Schools. When I'm not at school, I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my family and dog, Sam.
