I am so thankful to have the opportunity to serve the Gum Springs community as an assistant principal! In my 17 years in education, I’ve had the opportunity to work with all elementary grade levels as a teacher, gifted coordinator, and instructional coach.  I began my teaching career in Hall County, then in 2009 began teaching in Gwinnett, and joined GSES in 2019 as a gifted coordinator. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University, and a specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.  I also completed my tier 1 leadership certification program at Piedmont College in 2021.

My husband Eric and I have two sweet boys.  My oldest son, Charlie, is a sports-loving 3rd grader at Gum Springs, and my youngest, Hudson, is an energetic kindergartener who keeps us busy.  I look forward to working with all the wonderful families of Gum Springs and supporting you and your children.

Hello, Gum Springs Family! My name is Dr. Jennifer Hartwell and I am so excited to be serving as one of your Assistant Principals. For a little about myself, I am a speech-language pathologist, who spent the majority of my career within Gwinnett County Schools. I obtained my clinical doctorate degree in 2020. For the second half of my career, I decided to pursue a new avenue of service through leadership. As I started this path, I came to Gum Springs for the 2022-2023 school year, to serve as our Special Education Instructional Lead. I am now fortunate to be able to continue my service as an Assistant Principal. Outside of Gum Springs, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, typically at the ball field or the volleyball court. I love to read and enjoy a good cup of coffee as well. I thank you for your support and I look forward to serving the community of Gum Springs.
