Welcome to Gum Springs Elementary School!

I have been in elementary education for 26 years and 18 of those years have been in Jackson County. I began my career in Douglas County and later my family and I moved to Jackson County. Since I have been in Jackson County, I have had the privilege of serving North Jackson Elementary, East Jackson Elementary and most recently, Gum Springs Elementary. Over the course of my career in education I have served as a K -5 teacher, support teacher, instructional coach,  assistant principal, and now principal . My family resides in Jackson County and all three of my children have attended Jackson County Schools. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community as the principal of GSES. We value each child and work effortlessly to provide each child with an exciting and meaningful educational experience.

At GSES, we also value and encourage parental involvement and communication. Therefore, we invite you to partner with us and  work diligently to make our school an exciting and welcoming place for our students, staff, parents and community. At GSES, we  want the very best for every student.  Accordingly, your concerns, comments, and ideas are appreciated and respected. Throughout the year we invite you to help us celebrate your student’s success and to partner with us to create a truly meaningful and joyous year of growth!  I am excited to work with you and your children to make the 2021-2022 school year a successful one! I am so thankful to have the opportunity to serve the Gum Springs community as an assistant principal! In my 15 years in education I’ve had the opportunity to work with all elementary grade levels as a teacher, gifted coordinator, and instructional coach.  I began my teaching career in Hall County, then in 2009 began teaching in Gwinnett, and joined GSES in 2019 as a gifted coordinator. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University, and a specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.  I also completed my leadership certification program at Piedmont College in 2021.

My husband, Eric Stover, and I have two sweet boys.  My oldest son, Charlie, is a sports-loving 1st grader at Gum Springs and my youngest, Hudson, is an energetic 3-year old that keeps us busy.  I am looking forward to working with all the wonderful families of Gum Springs and supporting you and your children.  If I can assist you in any way, please feel free to stop by the school, contact me by phone at (706) 654-5580 or email me at astover@jcss.us

It is with great excitement that I join GSES as one of your assistant principals! I have been an educator for over twenty years, with the most recent six years served in Jackson County as a teacher and instructional coach. I am a graduate of the Jackson County School System and my family and I still live in the Jackson County community. I attended Gainesville College and Brenau University to obtain my bachelor’s degree, the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!!) for my master’s degree, and back to Brenau for my specialist’s degree.

My philosophy of education centers around the importance of building relationships and a Whole Learner focus. We must embrace and nurture the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of ALL students to optimize achievement. We must come together and empower students to engage in the creation of their learning paths. When learners, teachers, families, and our community unite to co-author the learning journey, it unlocks potential and accelerates learning.

Our goal at GSES is for EVERY student to have joyous, meaningful, and successful educational experiences that prepare them for their best futures! Together, we can do this! Go Panthers! 🐾

As the Instructional Coach at Gum Springs Elementary School, I truly believe this is the best school in Jackson County!

My educational career began in 2006 as a Special Education Teacher in Gwinnett County.  I have taught students in grades 2-5 with a variety of disabilities. The majority of my time was spent in  co-taught general education classrooms. In 2017, I had the privilege of joining the Jackson County School System as a Fifth Grade Teacher.  The following year, I became the K-5 Instructional Coach at Gum Springs Elementary.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in Interrelated Special Education from Piedmont College, and I am currently enrolled in the Educational Leadership program at the University of West Georgia.

As an Instructional Coach, I support our teachers with improving best teaching practices through professional development, modeling, and goal setting.  At GSES, we have amazing teachers with a growth-mindset that are excited to learn researched best practices to increase student achievement.

My husband, Jon, and I have three children who attend Gum Springs Elementary School.  Olivia is currently in fourth grade while Anderson and Braden are in Kindergarten.

I look forward to developing a positive relationship with you and your child. If I can assist you in any way, please feel free to contact me by phone at 706-654-5580, or email me at kterry@jcss.us.
