JEFFERSON — The Jackson County Board of Education approved school calendars for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years during Monday night’s Board meeting.
The calendars approved will serve as the official school calendars for the next two school years.
Both school calendars begin with five days of professional development for JCSS faculty and staff. The first day of school for the 2024-25 school year will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, while the first day of school for the 2025-26 school year will be Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Students and staff will receive Labor Day off, the first weekend in September. Fall break for both school years will consist of four weekdays for students and three for staff. Fall break for the 2024-25 school year will be held Oct. 10 — Oct. 15 for students, while staff will have a professional development day on the 15th. For the 2025-26 school year, fall break for students will consist of Oct. 9 — 14, with staff holding a professional development day on the 14th.
Thanksgiving break for break school years will consist of the standard week off.
The holiday break will begin on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024. Students will return Monday, January 6, 2025. For the 2025-26 calendar, the holiday break begins on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, and students return on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Students will receive one day off in January, February and March during both school years.
Spring break for the 2024-25 school year will be held April 7 — 11, and April 6 — 10 for the 2025-26 year. The final school day for the 2024-25 year will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025, while the final day of school will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 for the following school year.
